Talk time

Oh, this baby.  This wild and crazy baby.  This high maintenance baby who pushes me to my limit.  This frowning baby who sumo-walks through the house.  Who climbs onto everything imaginable.  Who really, is not so much a baby anymore.

Benjamin is finally starting to talk.  And talk more than pointing at objects and naming them.  Of course, his preferred method of communication is still the constant whine.  The indistinct hand-reaching towards anything or nothing.

Let's see ... he can say all our names.  He's not calling Andy "bub-bub" as much anymore, and is transitioning to something that sounds like "Indy."  Elizabeth is "Lizzy" although the L sound isn't quite there.  Even Sam is in there, with a "Schim" kind of sound.  Among others, he says car, tub, shoe, outside, bike, eat-eat, Bubby for his favorite show and he's working on a sound for chocolate. He's mastered the important things.

He's impressing us with a few sentences as well.  "Thank you Dada" and "Bless you Mama" when I sneeze.  But mostly he'll say a word I recognize, throw in four or five jibberish sounds and then end with another recognizable word.  But he knows what he's saying.  He's so expressive with his tone and facial expressions, you just know he's communicating.  Its just that Mama hasn't quite cracked the code on it all.

My little Benja.  I am ready for you to be a little easier, but I'm not quite ready for you to be a big boy.
